The Joel Hall Dancers and the Joel Hall Dancers Youth Company join over one dozen other dance companies for the 5th annual Trifecta Dance Festival. This year, Joel Hall Dancers will bring the award-winning excerpt “Four Women” from Joel Hall’s 2006 work, In the Shadow of Nina Simone (REVERB).

About the piece, Joel Hall says, “In the Shadow of Nina Simone was originally created in partnership with Paul Sanasardo in 2006. This performance of the piece is structured around the state of Black People from when we started in Elmina Castle in Ghana, a door of no return from which the slaves left, to where we are today. Not solely to reflect the Blackness of Black People, but also how I see my Blackness reflected in my brothers and sisters whose struggles are similar and different than my own.”
